NCPPP Recommends Balanced Approach to DoD Budget Reductions – 12 Jan 2012
In light of the recently announced Department of Defense budget reductions, the National Council for Public-Private Partnerships (NCPPP), a non-profit, non-partisan 501(c)3 organization founded in 1985, urges the Department to take a more balanced approach to meeting its infrastructure and service support needs.

NCPPP Executive Director Rick Norment, noted that; "the NCPPP is specifically urging the Department and the Congress to create more opportunities for the development of public-private partnerships and to allow the skills and the financing of the private sector to help meet defense requirements. This approach has already been successfully used by the Department in the areas of housing, waste water treatment and electrical generation. As the September 2011 Annual DoD Industrial Capabilities Report to Congress noted; "Services are as essential as weapons systems to mission accomplishment." NCPPP also urges the Department and the Congress, consistent with the Department's June 2011 request, to eliminate Section 8101 of the fiscal year 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 2219) to once again permit full and open competitions for the performance of commercial support service work."

"These recommendations will allow the Department to stretch their increasingly limited sources by competitively seeking the best value provider of services and by multiplying Defense dollars with private capital investments; Norment said.".
